Have you ever wondered about ancient Egyptian pharaohs and the great gods they worshipped? Then catch Agatha Christie's epic historical drama, Akhnaton, at the Masque Theatre between 13-21 March.
WHAT'S ON STAGE?
The Masque Theatre and its committed cast will be performing one of Agatha Christie's most extraordinary plays of religious rebellion, love, violence and deceit.
All performances at the Masque Theatre are community-based, so a lot of the staff, stagehands and even actors are local volunteers and often learn the tricks of the theatre trade here.
A PLOT SUMMARY OF AKHNATON
The play follows the story of the Egyptian Pharaoh Akhnaton and his attempts to have his polytheist kingdom worship a single god, Aten. However, his conservative court doesn’t agree and his defiant actions result in violence and religious unrest.
A BELOVED COMMUNITY THEATRE
The Masque Theatre has encouraged community participation since it began in 1959. It’s still producing exciting and diverse production line-ups where anyone and everyone can take part in various roles from stage lighting and wardrobe management to acting and directing.
TICKETS
Don't want to miss out on the Muizenberg community bring the story of Akhnaton to stage at the Masque Theatre between 13-21 March. Tickets are R100 and can be purchased online at Computicket.
