Play HintHunt Africa’s thrilling and addictive original Escape Rooms
Seven out of the 10 secret Holy Moleys have been found and countless puzzles decrypted before the 60 minute timer screeches us to a halt. The main door unlocks, and HintHunt Africa's Gamemaster enters to deliver the bad news: we're cursed and sentenced to life in a decaying ship...
HintHunt Africa's live Escape Room games at the Watershed in the V&A Waterfront locks away 2 - 6 players per team in a decadently themed room, pushing them to solve puzzles and riddles to survive (win). Try your best to ignore the shouts of victory and the laughter coming from the escape rooms next door. It adds to the excitement as you compete, but it might also make you rush your own challenge.

HintHunt Africa's escape rooms are both exhilarating and challenging. You'll need a team that's packing all kinds of smart, enthusiasm and creativity to solve the puzzles in time. You'll be surprised though, who you thought to be the idle teammate might buckle down to solve a sliding puzzle while your usually subdued friend barks out orders and captains the team forward. Everybody finds a task to do and is so easily caught up in the story.

It's the escapism and adventure that makes it engrossing, says Escape Game Master Charlemagne Kasichi. The Escape Game room craze has grown around the world and turned competitive over the years, with live escape room competitions in cities like Budapest and London.
HintHunt Africa is the first to bring live Escape Game room experiences to the continent and has created 3 experiences for South Africans. These immersive, storytelling games allow you to experience the narrative like you’re living through a blockbuster movie and championing each task instantly bonds you to your teammates.
Each of HintHunt Africa’s live experiences comes with a backstory of cursed treasures, decrepit hotel rooms and a sinking shipwreck. You'll need to brush up on your problem-solving skills as each room will test you in many different ways.
In the Shipwrecked game, sacred royal family jewels of pearls, diamonds and gems scatter the decks of the lost ship of Captain Kalman. Hungry for the riches, you must recover these invaluable treasures before the storm hits and sinks you and the ship forever. But, don't ignore the skeletons and the messages of warning across the cabin's walls. The escape room is more complicated than it looks and you’ll need to lean on every team member to find your way out.

What do you know of the mysterious Mr O – the once prominent author who was last seen taking residence in this neglected hotel room? Nothing can stop the rot and decay from taking over, but it's vital you find out what happened before the building crumbles to ruins. The Old Hotel Escape room is simple: find out the truth of Mr O’s suspicious disappearance or perish with the hotel.

The Cursed Treasure is HintHunt's latest, and possibly hardest escape room. Here, everyone from the intern to the company’s CEO needs to work together. This escape room includes protective voodoo magic and ancient spells that you and your team need to overcome. You must recover the lost treasure, break the curse and escape or spend the rest of your days trapped in a sunken ship. Head's up: the cabin you're trapped in is not what it seems.

It costs roughly 1 100 per room to play a live escape game, which works out to R275 for four or more people. Hint Hunt often offers specials for CapeTownMagazine.com. You can mail them about your next escape adventure at capetown@hinthunt.co.za with the subject line “CapeTownMag”. Otherwise, find more info at hinthunt.co.za.
The live Escape Game rooms are not the only adventurous experience HintHunt has to offer. HintHunt will bring the thrill to you in their mobile Escape Games. You get to choose the location and HintHunt will set the scene, wherever you are. Travel back in time to solve the mysterious death of Albert Einstein in or stop Spider technologies from spreading the virus at your office with the whole team.
Or Cape Town can be your oyster in HintHunt’s Amazing Race and Outdoor Escape experience. Through augmented reality and GPS technology, you can solve the riddles hidden all around the V&A Waterfront with HintHunt.
