Koopmans de Wet House Museum in Cape Town
In 1914 Koopmans de Wet House was the first period house in South Africa to be opened to the public as a museum.
In 1914 Koopmans-de Wet House was the first period house in South Africa to be opened to the public as a museum.
It is furnished as a home of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, with a superb collection of Cape furniture, Chinese and Japanese ceramics, Dutch Delft, paintings, glass and silverware.
The present facade is attributed to the architect Louis Thibault and sculptor Anton Anreith.
