Smash-Hit Kinky Boots Extended To 2020 At The Fugard Theatre

With music by Cyndi Lauper, several Tonys and a Laurence Olivier Award

Inspired by true events, first told on the big screen and then transformed into a multi-award-winning musical, Kinky Boots will convert even non-theatre-goers into fans of musical theatre. And it’s on now at the Fugard Theatre and is currently booking to 2 February 2020.

ALL THE AWARDS
The production, based on the book by Harvey Fierstein and with music and lyrics by Cyndi Lauper, has played to sold-out houses on Broadway and in the West End since 2013. It’s won a Tony Award for Best Musical, Best Original Score, Best Choreography as well as a Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Musical. This smash-hit is an absolute must for all musical theatre fans.

WHAT’S IT ABOUT?
The show follows the life story of Charlie Price – a man who (reluctantly) inherits his father’s shoe factory, Price & Son, which happens to be on the verge of bankruptcy. Charlie tries to live up to his father’s legacy and save the family business. He finds inspiration in Lola, a cabaret performer and drag queen in need of a pair of sturdy stilettos. The two work together to produce a line of high-heeled boots and save the business, and in the process, discover that they aren’t so different after all.

DREAM TEAM
The same creative team behind Fugard Theatre productions like The Rocky Horror Show, Cabaret, Funny Girl and West Side Story brings you Kinky Boots. The show is directed by Matthew Wild, musical direction is by Charl-Johan Lingenfelder and choreography by Louisa Talbot.

Darren Craig (Grease, High School Musical) takes on the role of Charlie Price, with Earl Gregory (Into the Woods, Joseph and The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat) as drag queen Lola. See the full cast on The Fugard Theatre’s website.

CATCH IT WHILE YOU CAN
Kinky Boots in on now at the Fugard Theatre, Tuesdays to Saturdays at 8pm with a matinee performance on Saturdays at 3pm. Sunday Matinees at 3pm will become available from Sunday 30 June 2019.
