Jungala Festival: Ride an Electronic Soundwave

8 international DJs + 32 South African acts = one out-of-this-world weekend

There’s a rumble deep in the jungle. As you move closer it becomes clearer; you hear transcendent melodies and the rhythmic sound of many feet stomping the earth…

Jungala Festival is, once again, calling on its tribe of fun-lovers to hit the forest floor for a trance party. It’s all happening at Buffalo Drift, on Ruigtevlei Farm in Gouda. The outdoor event is spread over three days, from 12pm on Friday, 10 November to 6pm on Sunday, 12 November 2017.

Our favourite South African trance acts, along with a handful of amazing international DJs from places as far as Israel and Mexico, form part of the jam-packed lineup. A mix of everything from psychedelic trance and electro, to uplifting beats will keep you moving all day and night.

Jungala’s setting in Ruigtevlei Farm creates the perfect atmosphere in which to be yourself. Frolic in the forest and relax far from the bustle of the city. The island-like dancefloor will be surrounded by the Berg River that snakes around it. On the river bank, there will be a rejuvenating area where you can rest, take a dip in the water and restore your energy before you get back to dancing.

Jungala will be donating a portion of their proceeds to the Cape Town NGO Soil for Life.

The festival also contributes to an initiative called the Thula Thula Room The organisation focuses on supporting trauma victims in the Gouda area. Please support this charity by bringing both adult and baby clothes, toys, blankets, nappies, food, baby food, pillows and whatever else you think could be of value to someone. All donations will be accepted at the gate.

Some general rules:

  • Remember, Jungala is an over 21 event only – make sure you bring proof along. No ID, no entry. Copies are not permitted, originals only please.
  • As usual, no glass containers or bottles are permitted at the venue. No open fires are allowed either.
  • Guide dogs are welcome, but otherwise please leave your furry friends at home. A festival is not a fun place for pets.
  • And finally, keep it clean. No litter, please. Remember the eco-friendly festival adage, “leave no trace”. The venue should look as pristine by the end of the weekend as when you arrived. You will be given a bin bag upon arrival at the festival to keep and use at your campsite.

N.B. Jungala is accessible to and caters for festival goers with disabilities and special needs. There is allocated parking and camping areas available. Toilets for disabled persons will also be on site. As mentioned, guide dogs are allowed. If you have any particular requests, the organisers welcome you to get in touch and discuss these with them.

Check out Jungala.co.za for lots of helpful information about camping, glamping, and ways to carpool to and from the festival (it’s greener to share).
