Multi-platinum selling artist and nine-time Grammy Award winner John Legend is headed back to Cape Town to perform three concerts as part of his All Of Me worldwide tour at the GrandWest Grand Arena from Saturday, 15 to Monday, 17 November 2014. Named after his first Billboard Hot 100 number 1 hit, the global takeover is in support of his latest album, Love in the Future (2013).
And even though this will be his second visit to SA’s sunny shores (he was here in 2009 with Keri Hilson), the singer/songwriter maintains that he is eager to reconnect with his South African fans!
"I've enjoyed this tour immensely," said Legend. "The opportunity to get up close and personal with my fans and tell my story has been so much fun for me."
And if you are completely unfamiliar with his story, it goes a little something like this: While collaborating with rapper Kanye West and spoken-word artist J. Ivy, the crooner was dubbed John Legend (his real name is John Roger Stevens) because he sounded like one of “the legends”.
After years of toiling behind the scenes, featuring on tracks and collaborating with major artists like Lauryn Hill, JayZ, Alicia Keys, Fort Minor and many more, Legend eventually burst onto the music scene with his debut studio album Get Lifted (2004).
Since then, John Legend has produced chart-topping hits, raked in over 20 Grammy Award nominations and received the Hal David Starlight Award at the 2007 Songwriters Hall of Fame’s induction and award ceremony.
With four studio albums, 35 award nominations, 9 Grammy Awards and more under his belt, this 30-something neo-soul singer will undoubtedly wow the crowds with his impressive catalogue.
