Bring ‘n Braai ‘n Jazz Legends

Unwind and let braai smells and jazz sounds waft over you

Jazz in the Yard is a collective of jazz lovers whose mission is to ensure local and national talent have a platform to show us their stuff. Jazz On The Kraal is one such platform, and offers much more than music. Think secluded smallholding, braai, beers, all-round good vibes...

LOCAL LINE-UP
Cape Flats born-and-bred artists the Sammy Webber Band, Lee Ludolph (guitar) and “Miss Jax” Jacky Molefe (vocals) are all on the bill.

WATCH: SAMMY WEBBER BASS SOLO

ABOUT SAMMY WEBBER
Webber always dreamed of playing a musical instrument but he only got the opportunity to start playing the guitar at the age of 19. One year later, he joined his first band and played rhythm guitar for two years.

When one of the band members left, Webber stepped in to play the bass guitar. He’s never looked back and now plays everything from commercial and pop music to jazz.

Sammy’s shared the stage with Jonathan Butler and has backed internationally known local artists like Hugh Masekela, Jimmy Dludlu, Judith Sephuma, Vicky Sampson and Jennifer Jones.

BRING ‘N’ BRAAI
The venue at Jazz On The Kraal has braai facilities, so pack a cooler box. Outdoor chairs or a picnic blanket are a good idea too. There aren’t any facilities for children, so best to leave the kids with the babysitter.

CATCHING THE ACTION
The next event is taking place on 29 June at 7 Olieboom Road, Schaapkraal, Ottery. There’s an entry donation of R80 payable in cash at the gate or you can contact the organiser, Eugene Oliver, on +27(0)73 441 6863. If you need help with directions, contact the organisers directly on +27(0)73 441 6863.
