Sold By The Hands That Made Them: Pull Through to The Inxwala Slow Market

The Drawing Room Cafe in Obs plays host to this market with a twist, a celebration of local culture and artisanal goods

The Inxwala Slow Market is back and setting up shop at The Drawing Room Cafe in Obs on Sunday 29 July 2018. A celebration of local culture and artisanal goods, the market brings live music, fresh produce and handmade crafts close to home.

The unique thing about a slow market is that the items you’re looking at were made by the person selling it to you. It’s beyond curio, it’s locally-made, one-of-a-kind goods. Browse the market for a traditional African necklace or a ceramic ornament for that empty space in your living room.

Inspired by the seasonal Nguni tradition of Inxwala, a ceremony that marks the King's tasting of the new harvest, the event invites market-lovers to experience a warm and creatively-charged afternoon. Look forward to local fashion, art, vintage pieces, African literature and beaded accessories as well as tasty food and crisp craft beers to keep you satisfied throughout the day. Live entertainment will also keep the good vibes going.
