Harald’s Bar & Terrace in Cape Town

10 reasons to love Harald’s Rooftop Bar & Terrace

Last updated: 8 February 2024

Uncomplicated. Unpretentious. This rooftop bar, in the middle of the city, is delightfully down-to-earth and welcoming. Just ask to be buzzed up to the 11th floor, where you can pick from a long list of freshly-prepared cocktails and meals like masala steak sliders and Cape Malay curry or pizzas and burgers. Here’s 10 reasons to visit Harald’s Rooftop Bar & Terrace.

1. CLOSE TO CITY BUSINESSES & OFFICES

Harald’s Rooftop Bar & Terrace is the rooftop bar and eatery of Park Inn by Radisson Cape Town Foreshore. It’s just a 10 minute walk from the Cape Town International Convention Centre and many of the CBD’s major office buildings (like The Towers and Civic Centre), which makes it such a natural meeting point for business lunches or after-work drinks.

2. CONSISTENTLY PLEASANT STAFF

Radisson hotels are known for being fuss free and down-to-earth, and creating positive moments for its guests – and this is true for Park Inn by Radisson Cape Town Foreshore, too. It’s an unpretentious space, where the staff is consistently pleasant and welcoming, whether you’re a guest or day visitor.

3. ROOFTOP ON THE 11TH FLOOR

Harald’s spills over from inside (with a stunning glass ceiling) to an outdoor terrace and balcony, where a colourful mural by AwehMigo, known for his bold graffiti-like style, covers one of the walls. Visitors will also be happy to know that there are plugs outside and free wifi.

4. LOOKS OVER CBD & TABLE MOUNTAIN

From the barstool seating you’ll be able to watch the city’s commuters flock to and from Adderley station; the city’s traffic slowly making its way around Adderley Street Fountain; the trees that line Heerengracht Street. And of course, the majestic Table Mountain.

5. PIZZAS, BURGERS & PLATTERS TO SHARE

Harald’s food offerings are simply delightful with pizzas, burgers, pastas and sharing platters. The menu is influenced by local flavours, like the Local is Lekker platter (masala steak sliders, chicken spring rolls and boerewors).

6. KLIP & CHILL WITH SIGNATURE COCKTAILS

Visiting a rooftop bar wouldn’t be complete without a sundowner, and Harald’s has signature cocktails like Klip and Chill (Klipdrift, Campari, orange and soda) and Skyy Raise (Skyy vodka muddled with mint leaves, cranberry syrup and orange juice).

Harald’s even has Pigcasso wines on the menu. Image: Park Inn by Radisson Cape Town Foreshore

7. EVERYDAY FAVOURITES, TOO

On the menu too are everyday favourites like Durbanville Hills, D’Aria, Black Label and Castle. Pongrácz, Prosecco, Hennessy VSOP and Glenlivet 15 year also feature for the more discerning drinker.

10. HOMEBASE TO EXPLORE THE CITY

Thanks to its location, Harald’s is also the place to start (or end) your night. Long Street, Cape Town’s nightlife hotspot, is just a 10 minute walk away. Food and art hub Bree Street isn’t much further. Or Kloof Street, where you’ll find some of the city’s most buzzy and upcoming bars and restaurants.
