Cape Town’s first hand casting experience

2handsy has weekly hand casting workshops

You might have seen it before on TikTok or Instagram… Videos of couples, friends, or family making hand statues out of gooey liquid. Now you can do it in Cape Town. 2handsy is the first ever hand casting experience in the Mother City, and its hosted every Saturday and Sunday.

HOW HAND CASTING WORKS

Everything you need is included in the 2handsy kit, including instructions and materials for a maximum of 4 hands. The experience is two and a halfs long. 

You’ll start by mixing powder and water with a whisk, then oiling your hands to plunge into the gooey purple solution. It only takes 10 minutes before the mold is created, and then you’ll move on to whisking a new solution that will fill the mold. 

After about an hour, the final step is cleaning and smoothing out your statue, before painting it gold or silver.

GAMES, FOOD AND DRINKS INCLUDED

While you wait for the mold to dry, the host will guide you through games like marshmallow and spaghetti sticks (the objective: to build the tallest tower possible that will support the marshmallow). You also receive a food and drinks discount coupon of R50 that is redeemable on the day. 

These workshops are hosted every Saturday and Sunday at various locations like Woodstock Brewery or the Armchair Theatre. The Name’s Bond (for couples, family, and friends) package costs R395 for adults and R195 for kids (under 12 years old).

PARTIES, CELEBRATIONS & SPEED DATING

The experience is a great idea for birthday or bachelor/bachelorette party, with packages for R395 per adult and R195 for kids (under 12 years old).  

You can also bring 2Handsy to you. The Gang Gang experience (at the same price) can be booked on any day or time outside operating hours. It’s great for a unique team building, or any large group, where one person wants to create an individual hand cast. 

Looking for love? Every First Thursdays 2handsy hosts a speed dating experience strictly for singles. It’s just like Love Is Blind, except you leave with a keepsake instead of a lover.
