Greyton 16th Annual Rose Fair
A highlight on the Overberg festival calendar as Greyton Rose Fair celebrates its 16th year.
The main aim of this year’s Annual Rose Fair festival is as a fundraiser to help the Greyton Senoir’s Centre provide free meals to the needy.
The Greyton Rose Fair takes place from Friday 26 October till Sunday 28 October 2007.
Greyton is only one and a half hours drive from Cape Town and as in tradition of other towns in the region was first a farm, Weltevreden, later named after Sir George Grey, twice Governor of the Cape Colony.
The Overberg countryside is at its most beautiful during the time of the Rose Fair with Spring and Summer coming together, creating an atmosphere for everyone to come relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of this relaxed rural lifestyle.
There are still horses, cows and donkeys wandering the streets!
Some of the activities included in this year’s fair are food and craft stalls, wine tasting, rose exhibitions and judging, local music, art exhibitions, dancing, horse cart rides around the village, several fun activities for children as well as special concerts and live performances.
