Maverick Experience in The Grand Daddy Hotel Cape Town

Daddy Long Legs Mavericks extend their vision for a fantastic combination of character and contemporary style with The Grand Daddy

“Stories on Grand Daddy
Long Legs preceded the legend in different shapes; tales and hoaxes of spiders, animated movies, facts and fictions in books. All now seem to have been signs, prophets and indications of what was going to come eventually. The Grand Daddy Hotel in Cape Town.”

The Metropole Hotel in Long Street, Cape Town has been bought over by the Maverick hotel group Daddy Long Legs and will be renamed the Grand Daddy Hotel after renovations.

Owners, Jody Aufrichtig and Nick Ferguson are renaming the hotel The Grand Daddy and plan to open the hotel before the end of 2008. The new Grand Daddy boutique hotel will consist of 25 rooms and restaurants and bars with new creative life.

Daddy Long Legs, already well known on Long Street jumped at the opportunity to acquire the beautiful old building at 38 Long Street, when it recently came up for sale.

“We love Long Street and we think that this hotel building is an intrinsic landmark on the classy side of the street!” comments Aufrichtig.

“We are calling it The Grand Daddy hotel out of respect to its elegance and historical charm but also because we want to ensure that our guests get an upmarket experience with a few pleasant surprises. Everyone would love a generous Grand Daddy; this is it.”

You’ll be able to get the best rates on the Grand Daddy hotel, room prices have already been lowered, in keeping with the Daddy Long Legs philosophy that you can charge less and still run a successful hotel.

“The Grand Daddy is our
deluxe hotel in Cape Town’s Long Street, it has more amenities and luxuries but it is welcoming, warm and friendly”, says Aufrichtig.

The Grand Daddy has infused all its rooms and communal spaces with magical creative touches to ensure that guests are pleasantly surprised by the unexpected, the humorous and the interesting.

The Grand Daddy’s warm and hospitable staff will guide you through this gentle journey by offering little-known information about the surrounds and the history, whilst also performing the necessary business of hotels in a calm and caring manner.

Of course
, The Grand Daddy’s big talking point is its ‘penthouse’ trailer park, where a collection of vintage Airstream caravans nestle beneath the backdrop of Table Mountain.

Each of the 7 two-sleeper trailer suites have been conceptualized and designed by local artists and makes for an accommodation destination like no other.

Molo says:
"Jody has a true passion for Long Street and rejuvenation, also shown in the future opening of the Space theatre on 44 Long Street later this year.

We are certainly excited to see the Daddy Long Legs Group at the roots of the new Grand Daddy Hotel; Let’s see what the Grand Daddy has in mind..!"
