Unusual things to do for Easter in Cape ...
Not your typical plans. Candle concert, (free) light art, game drive & more
After a successful launch in March 2013, the GatherSA party brings together some of the hottest DJs in the Mother City for another all-out jol and street culture exhibition on the last Saturday (or in this case, the first) of the month in Cape Town. The next gathering takes place at the Vodacom Golf Village in Wynberg on Saturday, 1 June 2013.
This nine-hour mash-up delivers stalwart music makers and up-and-coming talent to the DJ box to keep lovers of hip-hop, house or bass music busy on the dance floor with breakneck beats and underground sounds. Comedian and emcee for the day, Dalin Oliver, offers a few laugh-out-loud moments between sets while booty-shakers take a break from their dance routines.
What’s more, aside from the music, the bi-monthly jol offers live tattooing by Claremont parlour The Tattooer (bring your design along on the day), and if you’re not in the mood to be the canvas, check out the live art exhibition, where a local graffiti artist breathes life into art before your eyes (the canvas will be donated to a charity afterward).
Not to mention, food and drinks stalls ensure that energy levels remain high, and gamers can flex their fingers in the Fifa 13 lounge. Alternatively, fashion-fundis and fashionistas can browse through the latest products from local fashion label 2Bop at the clothing exhibition, and great prizes are up for grabs during the day.
Also, in addition to everything else, SABC 1’s music show, LiveAMP, will cover the shindig, so don’t miss out on your opportunity for 15 minutes of fame (the televised insert is scheduled to broadcast on Friday, 7 June 2013).
