Wine and Dinner Series at Mount Nelson’s Planet Restaurant

This year you can look forward to:

28 January: Overgaauw, Winemaker – David van Velden - A proud family tradition of producing quality wines and one of the most beautiful settings in the Cape makes Overgaauw Wine Estate well worth a visit.

25 February: Hamilton Russell, Winemaker – Hannes Storm - Founded by Anthony Hamilton Russell in 1994, Southern Right's aim was to produce a serious, age-worthy Pinotage (combining a distinct South African fruit and flavour expression) with classic styling and refinement.

25 March: Waterkloof, Winemaker – Werner Engelbreght - His interests mostly parallel his winemaking philosophy; “Keep it simple and uncomplicated, interfere as little as possible with natural processes, enjoy life”.

29 April: Vergelegen, Winemaker – Andre van Rensberg - twice won the coveted Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de La Lande trophy for the best red blend at the International Wine and Spirits competition in 2001 and 2003.

27 May: Bouchard Finlayson, Winemaker/Owner - Peter Finlayson - Renowned as South Africa's pioneer of the Pinot Noir grape, Peter’s passion and foremost priority is about the quality of Bouchard Finlayon's wines.

24 June: Neil Ellis, Owner - Neil Ellis - Mindful that no single vineyard can satisfy the needs of all grape varieties, Neil Ellis set out to identify distinct terroir in which individual varieties will excel.

29 July: Groote Post, Winemaker – Lukas Wentzel - Groote Post's pursuit for excellence has been rewarded with numerous wine awards.

26 August: Rust & Vrede, Winemaker – Coenie Snyman - For Coenie Snyman making excellent red wine is not just a career; it is something for which he has a consuming passion.

30 September: Deetlefs, Winemaker – Willie Stofberg - The Deetlefs range is characterised by complexity, mouth-feel and elegance.

28 October: Boschendal, Winemaker – Lizelle Gerber - Boschendal Wine Estate is known as one of the most beautiful South African Wine Farms.

25 November: Moreson, Winemaker – Clayton Reabow - Clayton's winemaking and management style is fresh, it is young and it is entirely his own.

9 December: Boekenhoutskloof, Winemaker – Marc Kent - Marc's first vintage took off without the benefit of promotion, and a third party endorsement has ensured sold-out vintages ever since. Marc was Diner’s Club Winemaker of the year in 2007.

Each evening starts at 19:00 with pre-dinner drinks around the Lord Kitchener Fountain, followed by an introduction to the menu by Chef Rudi Liebenberg and an overview of the wines that will be served by the winemaker.

Price includes a seven-course dinner with matching wines.
