Vortex Phoenix Festival of Fire

Get ready for a fiery winter stomp-fest that will help dispel those chilly blues!

Hey stompers, don’t stash those stomping boots quite yet! Renowned trance party organisers Vortex Trance Adventures are preparing to give winter the finger with Phoenix Festival of Fire. Set to touch down at the Circle of Dreams in Riviersonderend, the June trance jol will heat up the (rain-sheltered) dance floor from Friday, 23 to Sunday, 25 June 2017. Doors open on Friday, 23 June 2017 from 12pm, so stompers can get set up for this party!

In Greek mythology, the phoenix is a bird with the ability to resurrect itself. It’s believed that at the end of its life, this legendary creature bursts into a blaze of fire and then rises from the proverbial ashes.

Thus; in the spirit of rebirth, regeneration and renewed vigor, the lovely people at Vortex have put forth a jol to celebrate the winter solstice (21 June) and, much like the phoenix, stompers are set to emerge from hibernation to make merry at this trance fiesta.

Celebrating all aspects of fire, attendees are encouraged to participate and bring any form of performance art: from sparkling hoola hoops, inferno jugglers, flame throwers, poi spinners and more!

Even though the event will be held in winter – and we all know that the chilly season in the Western Cape is wet – the trance party’s flames will not be extinguished by a little downpour. In fact, the dance floor will be fully waterproof with a canopy to keep the rain at bay.

What’s more, the camping area, which will flank the dance arena, comes complete with massive bonfires to ward off the chills as well as free access to hot showers and clean ablutions.

TICKETS FOR THE 2017 VORTEX PHOENIX FESTIVAL OF FIRE

Online tickets cost R450p/p for a full Festival Pass and R350p/p for a Weekend Ticket (entrance to the festival only from Saturday, 24 June at 9am), they are available online via Quicket.co.za, otherwise purchase a pre-sold ticket for R450p/p at one of the participating retailers (see below). Tickets sold at the gate on the day cost R500p/p on Friday, and will go down to R400p/p on Saturday.

• The venue is located 170km from Cape Town (about a two-hour drive).
• Take the N2 past Caledon and straight into Riviersonderend.
• Drive right through the town and continue 7km out of the town.
• Turn left onto the DR1306.
• Look out for the festival signs.
