The Cape Overberg is truly one of the most beautiful landscapes South Africa has to offer, with its rolling hills, orchards, grain fields and vast mountain ranges. In August the Overberg gets that much more beautiful as the landscape is transformed by the seemingly endless yellow vistas of the flowering canola fields.  

The picturesque town of Swellendam hosts an annual festival in honour of the canary coloured landscape, where people can revel in outdoor activities till their heart's content. This annual festival features a mountain bike race, a marathon and fun run, golfing, 4x4ing, live music, a farmers’ market, on stage productions, a rubber duck boat race (not the type you put in the bath), kiddie’s events and a food and wine expo. Now that’s a whole bunch of outdoor activity in the western cape!
