Those of you who worship at the altar of electronica, take note: Swedish House Mafia descend into the DJ booth at the Cape Town Ostrich Farm (just a 20-minute drive outside Cape Town) on Sunday, 27 January 2013 as part of their worldwide tour, aptly named One Last Tour (Note: the venue was previously Lourensford Wine Estate, but has now changed).
Made up of three electro dance music legends, the trio has won the hearts of fans all over the world. They’ve also been regulars at Masquerade Motel in Ibiza, as well as the recipients of the European Border Breakers Award (EBBA) – a prestigious accolade awarded to ten emerging artists or groups who have had the success of reaching audiences outside of their country.
Needless to say, Axwell, Steve Angello and Ingrosso – the Mafiosi members – are famous for dropping serious anthems, and the story should certainly be no different when the turntable prophets land on South African soil.
What is anticipated to be a highly emotional tour - the electronic dance music legends are going on an extended hiatus afterwards - will pay tribute to the fans, and promises to deliver the groundbreaking beats and performances that have set the group apart since their inception in 2008. ‘One Last Tour’ is said to be their most extensive tour to date - not to mention the most extravagant - and sees the Swedish trio hop across continents from Asia to Africa and on to North America.
Confirmed to share the stage with the electric trio at this final tour is the Dutch duo NO_ID. Both from Amsterdam, the pair kicked of their career in 2008 by taking the Amsterdam Dance Event Demolition Content title, and since, they’ve continued to shake the electronic dance music (EDM) scene with their unique brand of music. Ralph van Vugt and Devi van der Horst create the kind of fresh sound rarely played on international dance scenes, so prepare yourself for an exclusive progressive tech house set with these brilliant beat-makers.
