Okay so, full disclosure, you will not be listening to Shiraz wine but rather a very talented cover band called Shiraz that is based in Somerset West. On Sunday, 8 January 2017 these talented musicians will take the stage at Helderberg Nature Reserve for a sunset concert and delight you with music from an age gone by.
Shiraz is a four-piece cover band with very impressive musical histories. Remember The Dooleys? As in the ones that sung ‘I’m Gonna Fall in Love with You’? Well, Shiraz is made up of three former members of that band, Helen Dooley, Anne Walsh and Bob Walsh. Have a little listen to their biggest hit to jog your memory:
Presently, Shiraz covers hits from various artists and genres between the 1950’s and today. Their passion for music is easy to see, and their love of quality sound is also apparent. Anne Walsh takes the role of lead vocalist, her sister Helen Dooley plays the keyboard, Anne’s husband (Bob) plays bass guitar and the final member, on lead guitar, is Terry Weyer.
Relaxing at the lovely Helderberg Nature Reserve with a glass of wine in your hand while listening to this incredibly talented bunch of people sounds like a lovely way to end your festive holiday!
