There are all kinds of car enthusiasts out there, from lovers of American muscle or Japanese tuners, to those who prefer stately luxury cars and Italian exotics. One particular type of car lover is the person who isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty, or to push their machines to the edge of their tipping points (literally). I’m talking about 4x4 fanatics, and if you’re one of them then you’re in for a treat.
Catch all the thrills and oily spills at the Melkbos 4x4 Track when the Sea of Sand 4x4 Challenge roars to life on Saturday, 21 May 2016. This challenge will pit man and machine against each other in an effort to see whose vehicle can complete a variety of tricky courses in the fastest time.
These obstacles will push the vehicles to the limits and test the nerves of the drivers as they dangle precariously on steep embankments and wade through muddy pits. Drivers will also take part in target shooting and accuracy tests from the front seats of their 4x4s. The winner of the challenge will take home the floating trophy, sponsored by the Cape Land Rover Club, as well as a R10 000 Canon camera bundle. There will be other prizes for those with the most gees.
Bring the kids along too; this is a family event after all. With a children’s entertainment area, food and drink stalls, as well as a big screen broadcast of the rugby matches, there will be something for everyone at this action-packed and dusty event.

TICKETS TO THE 2016 SEA OF SAND 4X4 CHALLENGE IN MELKBOS
Tickets to the event are available online, via Landymag.co.za and cost R400 per vehicle (driver and co-driver), which includes a free burger and drink for both people. Spectator tickets cost R35p/p, and children under the age of 12 enter for FREE!
Please note that there are limited entries available (restricted to 50), so Land Rover vehicles will get preference. Gates open at 8am, and the challenge kicks off at 9:15am. For more information, email info@landymag.co.za or phone +27 (0)21 555 3577.
