Baxter CEO and multi-awarded playwright Lara Foot brings her smash hit production Karoo Moose back to the Baxter Theatre from Wednesday, 31 August to Saturday, 24 September 2016. A decade since its premiere, the original actors return for the three week production, with Zoleka Helesi, Mdu Kweyama, Bongile Mantsai, Thami Mbongo, Chuma Sopotela and Apollo Ntshoko completing the stellar cast.
Karoo Moose chronicles the story of a young girl named Thomaza who lives in an isolated village in the Karoo region of South Africa, who ends up killing a moose. Strange, enchanting and definitely different, to understand the premise, you’ll have to watch the play.
The production explores the disintegration of the family unit and the violation of innocence. Lara Foot also works to unpack the myths and assumptions surrounding traditional African settlements away from western-style urban cities. The story combines magical realism and African story-telling.
Lara Foot’s Karoo Moose has won fifteen top South African theatre awards including Best Director and Best SA Production at the Fleur du Cape Theatre Awards, Most Innovative Work from Aardvark and Best production at the Aardklop Festival.
TICKETS TO THE 2016 PRODUCTION OF KAROO MOOSE AT THE BAXTER THEATRE GOLDEN ARROW STUDIO
