Have eco-friendly intentions, but baffled about how or where to recycle in Cape Town? Clearer Conscience, a first-class Mother City recycling company, is committed to taking this problem out of residents’ hands by collecting recyclable materials from home premises and delivering them to appropriate drop-off points and depots.
Owned by environmentally-conscious university lecturer Andy Conder, the innovative, admirable curbside collection service was established in 2008 to help make recycling not only possible but also simple and convenient for those eager to help protect our precious planet in a Cape Town where structured city-sponsored recycling retrieval schemes are still a thing of the future.
The highly reliable, reputable company – they pride themselves on never missing a scheduled collection – aids with paper, plastic, tin and glass recycling (they’ll pick up other matter too on arrangement), and fetches such materials from pavements on allocated days of the week depending on the location of the household (Thursday is their Southern Suburbs and CBD day, for instance). Regularity of collection ranges from twice weekly to once a month depending on personal requirements, and Clearer Conscience ensures that all waste fetched is taken to suitable places for processing, conversion and reuse.
In almost all cases, recyclables (such as glass and plastic) are donated to charity organisations and institutions that sell them back to major recyclers in exchange for funds that go towards supporting their primary cause. What’s more, should patrons also have second-hand goods (such as furniture, books and clothing) that they’d like to pass on, Clearer Conscience will gladly help to find a worthy home for these items too.
In this way, clients invested in recycling at home can rest assured that by using the enterprise’s services they are not only assisting with the conservation of the earth’s resources and the reduction of the amount of trash that finds its way to (already overburdened) landfill sites, but that they are also helping other disadvantaged individuals in need.
For those keen on implementing a home recycling programme but confused about what to recycle, the company is also willing to offer practical advice and useful titbits of information about viable materials, how to separate them, the best recycling bins to use and more. In every way, their aim is to make the process as simple and easy to implement as possible, so as to save patrons precious time and effort.
Interested parties can subscribe for their residential recycling services (priced from a mere R60 a month per single collection) via the company’s website or direct any queries to them via email (info@clearer.co.za) or telephone (+27 (0)82 339 9838). If required, a member of the team will also gladly meet with future clients to discuss specific personally-tailored packages that best suit individual needs.
