Haute Cabriere cellar sessions

Natasha Meister live in concert at the Franschhoek winery

Haute Cabrière wine estate, the Franschhoek farm as well known for its gregarious owners and Saturday sabrage act as it is for its fantastic Pinot Noir-Chardonnay blend, hosts the first of its live music cellar sessions on Friday, 10 August 2012 in collaboration with Studio 7.

Featuring the throaty Canadian-South African blues sensation Natasha Meister in concert, the intimate performance will give audiences an up-close-and-personal opportunity to enjoy the killer acoustics of the venue and the equally deadly pop-jazz-funk of the singer-songwriter.

Home to the estate’s wide range of reds, whites and Method Cap Classiques, the Haute Cabrière cellar may seem like somewhat of an uncouth stagefront, but with its cavernous belly and with a room devoted especially to talks and tasting tours, it makes for an ideal – albeit slightly unusual – performance space.

Not to mention, the cosy, dimmed down atmosphere (its moody lighting and vaulted ceilings are somewhat church-y)  pairs up perfectly with Natasha’s molasses-thick Motown vocals and soulful lyrics.

Having returned to South Africa after a childhood in North America, at the tender age of 20, she’s one of the nation’s most inspiring up-and-coming musical talents. She recently released her debut album ‘Half Way, Natasha Meister Band’, and has already made appearances at some of the country’s most well-known rock festivals, like Splashy Fen and Synergy Live.

Natasha takes her inspiration from the likes of Stevie Wonder, B.B. King, Aretha Franklin, and Stevie Ray Vaughan, and audiences can undoubtedly look forward to an evening with a phenomenal musician.

So, while the French Oak may not be on tap (sadly), there’s plenty of other reason to make your way to Haute Cabrière for the first in a series of live cellar sessions.

Tickets are available on Webtickets.co.za; they include a complimentary glass of wine or MCC and canapés and cost R160 p/p. Seating is extremely limited (only 80 seats), so pre-purchase is essential.

Consider making an evening out of it, and booking dinner at the Haute Cabrière Restaurant.

Can't make it to this event or just can't get enough of Natasha Meister? Don't fret, Natasha Meister is at Die Boer on Friday, 17 August 2012.
