District Six, a community that bustled with cultural diversity and remains an iconic part of Cape Town’s history, is being celebrated once more. Capetonians can look forward to the smash-hit musical lauding the legacy of the unforgettable suburb with District Six – Kanala at the Fugard Theatre, starting again on Tuesday, 22 November and booking until Sunday, 31 December 2016. Created and directed by David Kramer and presented by Eric Abraham and the Fugard, District Six – Kanala premiered on Thursday, 11 February 2016. This date marks 50 years since District Six was declared a whites-only zone under the Group Areas Act, a piece of legislation that saw over 60 000 people displaced and the area demolished.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE DISTRICT SIX KANALA - MUSICAL AT THE FUGARD
HONOUR THE LEGACY OF DISTRICT SIX: The play marks the 50 year anniversary of forced removals from District Six. A moment in history that cannot be forgotten, the productions honours the bustling creative suburb that was home to many Capetonians. David Kramer pays homage to the memories shared by legends like the late Taliep Petersen, Al Hendricks and Zayn Valentine and many others.

LOCAL IS LEKKER: Another one of David Kramer's hits, this production sees plenty of local performers strut their stuff while revisiting the early 1960s. The musical stars Loukmaan Adams, former Idols contestant Bianca le Grange, Sne Dladla and plenty of other amazing actors who are more than ready to bring the heat to the stage.
