Run, walk, skip or hop, just be prepared to be doused in all the shades of the rainbow at the Colour Me Crazy 5-km Run and Colour Festival exploding at the West Coast Ostrich Ranch just outside Cape Town on Saturday, 26 October 2013. In a nutshell, the first time event combines all the coolness of the Holi One Festival with a better line-up of musicians, a bigger venue and some cursory and very mild exercise prior to party time.
The unique fun run part of the jol is open to people of all ages and running ability, just as long as they are wearing white and willing to be bombarded with blasts of red, yellow, blue and pink powder at each kilometre mark. Afterwards, participants can jam in all their kaleidoscopic glory to the sounds of top local acts, like Goodluck, Locnville and Roger Goode, and finish off the transformation from caterpillar to butterfly with more colour bombs.
Folks can dress up in wacky costumes for the occasion, and have the option of taking the 5km as they please –at a sprint or at a stroll; there’s no time limit and even the stragglers will be welcomed to the finish line with a plethora of pink and blue. Those who can’t bear the thought of strenuous physical activity on a Saturday afternoon can opt out of the run and just have a jol with the good tunes; plus, food stalls and a bar will no doubt make this a worthwhile outing for colour party lovers of all fitness levels.
