Why not celebrate Christmas twice a year - once in June and once in December

This winter in the Western Cape, the village of Tulbagh is decorated with lights and Christmas trees.

Father Christmas rides through the town handing out treats to everyone. Tulbagh will see a Christmas in Winter event take place on 28-29 July.

It has become a tradition in Cape Town to celebrate ‘Christmas in July’ since the (sometimes stormy) weather in July, the heart of ‘winter’ in Cape Town, creates a Christmas atmosphere very different to the 25 degrees+ in December, when it’s full-on summer in Cape Town.

The restaurants in Tulbagh offer traditional Christmas Dinners, and the Oude Drostdy displays festive decorations/settings during the weekend.

Wine Tasting, gluhwein, beer garden, sports bars, art and craft exhibitions, stalls and a kiddies corners are a few of the activities happening over the weekend.

‘A Rock with Santa’ party will be held on the Saturday evening, contributing to making it an all-in-all fantastic weekend getaway this winter in Cape Town.
