Take a break from the kitchen, and celebrate Christmas Day in Cape Town in style with family and friends at Tobago’s Restaurant at the Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel.
Guests and locals alike are invited to soak up the African sun on this seaside restaurant’s expansive terrace while enjoying top-notch cuisine and the company of loved ones.
Needless to say, for those who’d rather not lift a finger during the festive season, Grant Kennedy, executive chef at Tobago’s Restaurant, and his team are dishing up a mouth-watering array for Christmas Day lunch.
The buffet offers salad, seafood, mains, dessert and loads more in between.
Start off at the DIY salad bar, and make your own leafy concoction with the finest ingredients or dish up the ready-made salads featuring lip-smacking delights like a pear, blue cheese and walnut salad or asparagus, grapefruit and penne pesto salad.
The seafood station has a delectable assortment of ocean-fresh delights, from an oyster bar and chilli prawns to smoked salmon gravalax and Malay pickled fish – a dish most only get to eat at Easter.
Not much of a seafood fan? Fret not, the charcuterie has a range of meaty treats to sample: tuck into shaved rare roast beef with horseradish dressing, game carpaccio or chicken liver parfait with port onion marmalade, to name just a few.
For the traditionalists, there’s a roasted deboned turkey and sticky honey kassler loin at the carvery, while braised lamb neck, Cajun rubbed roast chicken and Cape Seafood bouillabaisse is available at the main course station.
Choose (or just have them all) from a range of greens and accompaniments, but do save space for the buffet of dessert (if you opt to skip lunch and just head to dessert, we won’t judge you). If you’re not much of a sweet tooth and the desserts don’t tempt you at all, then opt, rather, for an assortment of local and international cheeses with tomato chutney and fig preserve served with breads and crackers.
