Celebrate Christmas Day at The Belmond Mount Nelson Ballroom

Put a little extra sparkle in your Christmas with a buffet of biblical proportions at the Mount Nelson Hotel.

The festive season comes but once a year, which is why the Mount Nelson Hotel in Cape Town is pulling out all the stops, celebrating in style, and making it an occasion worth remembering. Invite your family and friends to their Christmas Day buffet lunch in The Ballroom on Friday, 25 December 2015 and let the festive cheer overflow.

MENU FOR THE 2015 CHRISTMAS DAY BUFFET LUNCH AT THE BALLROOM

COLD STARTER BUFFET: Start the feast off with home-baked breads accompanied by spreads, dips and crudités, such as butternut and roasted garlic, mushroom pâté, olive tapenade, sour cream and chives, red pepper and sun dried  tomato purée, hummus, baba ghanoush, basil pesto, snoek with apricot and spring onion, duck rillettes, chicken liver pâté and caponata.

SEAFOOD: There is a sultry selection of sushi served with traditional condiments, gravadlax, as well as hot smoked salmon and tartare served with whole wheat blini, sesame seared tuna with mango and litchi, Thai style calamari and mussel salad, prawn and paw paw salad, fresh oysters, prawn cocktail, potato latkes, buttered home-baked cape seed loaf, pickled onions, shaved pickled cucumbers, marie rose, lime aioli and chive crème fraiche.

COLD MEATS: No Christmas is complete without glazed ham with pineapple. There will also be turkey pastrami with nectarine chutney, smoked duck with sweet curried beans, beef carpaccio with parmesan and rocket, jerk marinated ostrich, tandoori chicken drumsticks with coriander yoghurt, and slow cooked beef tongue with Cape onion salad.

SALADS: Tuck into some lemon and herb marinated mushrooms, honey roasted baby beetroot with radish and fromage blanc, potato salad, cabbage and cumin slaw with parmesan, sweet potato and cranberry, waldorf salad, quinoa and couscous salad with mint, feta and chicken thigh, fiore de latte with heirloom tomato, masala roasted cauliflower, and Caesar and Greek salads with all the condiments and dressings.

HOT BUFFET: There will be a fully-fledged carvery at the buffet, serving roast beef with Yorkshire pudding, slow roasted lamb shoulder, lamb with smoked tomato chutney, stuffed turkey roulade, turkey chipolatas wrapped in bacon, cranberry sauce, chicken korma, lamb vindaloo, slow cooked salmon trout with remoulade, roasted pumpkin with cinnamon, cauliflower and broccoli mornay, stir fried greens with cashew and bean sprouts, parsley buttered vegetables, ruffled roast potatoes, basmati rice, atchars, chutney, rotis and poppadums.

DESSERT: Traditional Christmas pudding with brandy sauce, steamed cranberry and almond pudding with vanilla custard, eggnog cheesecake, pecan nut tarts, key lime tart slice, spicy chocolate mousse, vanilla and cherry roulade, millionaire délice, cinnamon crème brûlée, fruit cake, mini panettone bread-and-butter pudding squares, a selection of local cheeses, seasonal fruit and mince pies.
