Pocket Power wins the J&B Met once again, completing the double with the L'Omarins Queen's Plate

The theme for the 2009 J&B Met is “Glitz and Glam” focusing on an age-old party icon, the mirror ball, which has been synonymous with J&B’s Start A Party Campaign launched globally this year.

With its beginning in the early 1800’s and once known as the Metropolitan Mile, the J&B MET at Kenilworth is the highlight of Cape Town's Horse Racing calendar and amongst the “Big Three” horse races in Mzansi country.

The J&B Met in Cape Town has become the largest annual outdoor social event in SA, with fashion themes that inspire & stun the spectators in a manner comparable to The Royal Ascot in England.

The most important horse racing events in South Africa are the Vodacom Durban July at Greyville Race Course, The J&B Met at Kenilworth Race Course and The Summer Cup at Turfontein in Johannesburg.

The theme of the 2008 J&B Met was Connect Couture. Connect the styling tips of South Africa's top fashion designers, and mix these with the J&B Met dress code of PLUMS, PATTERNS AND METALLICS, add some of your patented individualism and very own fashion secrets and voila, you're ready for the J&B Met Races.

With a maximum final field size of 20 of the best runners, Pocket Power, the winner of the 2007 J&B Met and the L'Omarins Queen's Plate, won this doube again in 2008, first winning the L'Omarins Queens Plate again and then taking the J&B Met 2008 again as well - can he do it again at the 2009 J&B Met?

The Final field of the 2008 J&B MET featured some of South Africa's best racing horses with names like 'Succesful Bidder', 'Wonder Lawn', 'Our Giant', and 2007 Durban July Winner 'Hunting Tower' all competed for the 2008 J&B MET title.
