Do you know of a coffee shop that’s open till 10pm? This one is, because it turns into a wine bar from 3pm. Vine and Dandy, just around the corner from Kloof Street in Gardens, has coffee, juices, pastries and toasties in the day; and wine tastings at night. Plus First Thursdays events.

A HIDDEN GEM IN GARDENS

Found on Park Road (just off Kloof Street) in Gardens, Vine and Dandy is loved by the regulars for their fresh pastries. There’s mini banana breads, brioche sausage rolls, croissants and toasted sandwiches like salami, cheese and caramelised onion. 

There’s coffee of course. But if you’re not in the mood, try a pressed juice, like the Hangover Healer (turmeric, ginger, garlic, lemon, apple, cayenne pepper and orange) and Greens and Grin (apple, cucumber, celery, kale, spinach and lemon). 

It’s also dog-friendly so you can bring your pet along. You might even meet Maggie (resident dog and sales director).

POP UPS & WINE TASTINGS 

From Tuesdays to Saturdays at 3pm, Vine and Dandy turns into a chic wine bar with art lining the walls, plants, wooden furniture and more.

Inside you’ll find a wooden shelf stacked with small local wine brands such as Cape Collective, Vinehugger, Ex Amino and more. They also host events like a local brands pop-up celebrating black local artists and small businesses.

SPECIAL FIRST THURSDAYS EVENTS

Every first Thursday of the month Vine and Dandy has live music by a local performer. Sit outside, enjoy the music and drink fine wine: They’ve recently started pairing these live performances with a tasting.
