Cape Town's Ajax soccer club lands MTN sponsorship

The Urban Warriors of Cape Town renew their relationship with MTN

Ajax Cape Town is proud to announce a new their partnership with MTN South Africa. This sponsorship deal is set to run for the next three years.

MTN South Africa was the first sponsor of the Urban Warriors in 1999 and this partnership sees the renewal of the relationship between Ajax and MTN.

The launch of the new sponsorship took place at Ikamva, the headquarters of Ajax Cape Town, earlier today. A gala event marked the launch of this sponsorship.

MTN announced that the company has signed a deal to sponsor local football giants, Ajax Cape Town – the team that is currently considered title contenders for the 2007- 8 ABSA Premiership.

MTN has signed an agreement which makes it the title sponsor of the Cape Town - based club.

The sponsorship deal demonstrates MTN’s continued passion, commitment and support for the development of football in South Africa in the build-up towards the Soccer World Cup in 2010.

“Our partnership with Urban Warriors is the beginning of an exciting journey, MTN’s association with Ajax will be across all its ranks, both at the professional and amateur levels, in this way MTN would be contributing to the development of South Africa’s future football stars,” says Pieter Verkade, chief marketing officer, MTN SA.
