You may know Ceres or Klondyke Farm for their magical snowfall during the winter months, but there is actually just as much fun during summer. It’s officially cherry picking season – enjoy the fruits of Klondyke Farm daily 8:30am–4:15pm, 9 December 2018 right through until 31 December 2018 (closed on Christmas Day).

The pet-friendly cherry farm allows you to pick cherries during the summer months, plus they’ve got three self-catering cottages and an open campsite if you’d like to stay over in Ceres.
It costs R30pp to enter the farm and R15pp for kids under 10. Hint: you get a R10 discount if you arrive before 10am. After paying your entrance fee you will receive a container roughly indicating what 1kg looks like. You’ll then be able to pick some cherries and fill your container to the brim.

In between pickings take some time to look at the picturesque orchards and get that picture for your Instagram feed (we know you want to). Once you’re done, have your container weighed at the farm stall. It costs R60 per kg of cherries.

Make a day of it, bring along a picnic basket, or some meat to braai (there are facilities for this) and then sit back and relax. Savour the fruits of your labour under the shade of a pine tree while enjoying the scenic layout of this popular Ceres farm.
