Despite much controversy, Tim Noakes’s Banting eating plan is still hotter than a Northern Cape summer sidewalk, and now followers of the popular low-carb, high-fat, medium-protein diet can congregate at Lose It! magazine’s monthly Banting Bazaar to exchange pleasantries, tuck into sugar-free fare and stock up on Banting-friendly products – all in one place.
After a successful launch in late 2014, the once-a-month pop-up event returns to the market calendar for the last time ever and will take place on Sunday, 5 July 2015 in the City Bowl Market’s home on 14 Hope Street in Gardens.
Part of the recently launched Lose It!’s mission is to change the way people think about what they eat and to punt Banting as a lifestyle. The free to-dos are a great place for both beginner Banters and seasoned veterans to meet up and volley around experiences, cooking secrets and tips while acquainting themselves with a gaggle of typically hard-to-find LCHF suppliers and chefs.
Vendors include Braai Revolution, whose products are free range and include lamb chops, steak and bacon; Battle Brew who produces and sells MCT Oil, sweet and savoury treats from Sweet like Candi; Tea Pigs, Butta Nut Tree Spreads, The Banting Boys and more.
Not to mention, current and past issues of Lose It! will be on sale, as well as an exclusive Keto Q&A session with an industry expert. Billed as South Africa’s ‘best selling Banting mag’, the publication features delectable recipes, inspiring LCHF weight loss stories and expert advice from doctors and nutrionists.
Needless to say, the pop-up bazaar is a brilliant place for devoted dieters to grab some something on the go (full English brekafast) or lunch (lamb chops/ Thuringer Bratwurst with cauli-mash and a salad, warm stew with cauli-rice, soup with banting bread and a choice of meat or vegetarian lasagne ), do some shopping and tap into the Banting community at one convenient location.
