The Art is Art gallery has reopened its doors in De Waterkant. Step inside to see their multi-coloured walls adorned with exquisite local art. For the coming months, they’re featuring an array of modern contemporary art, from the quirky illustrations of Kyle Jardine to Gift Mjwana’s bold and colourful portraits.
A RELATIVELY NEW KID ON THE CREATIVE BLOCK
Gallery founder Reno Horn created the gallery in 2019 to showcase both established and emerging artists in one collective space. In this space, you’ll find a range of works. Trevayne van Niekerk’s digital renditions of his muscular bear-type men are both playful and light-hearted. It’s enough to put a cheeky smile on anyone’s face.
The gallery has also welcomed in the more confrontational work of Gift Mjwana. Mjwana’s out of this world digital portraits are bright and bold enough to light up any room. Can you imagine a rhino hovering on an alien spaceship or a gorilla with goat-like horns? Well, Mjwana can and recreated it for you.
A CREATIVE SPACE TO VIEW IT ALL
Each month the gallery invites a new artist. This July you can catch the quirky illustrations of Cape Town artist Kyle Jardine. Jardine’s freehand illustrations capture the personality and the charm of not only historical heritage buildings but popular bars and restaurants around Cape Town.
You can browse and purchase the art online or you can shop directly at the Art is Art Gallery on Rose Street in De Waterkant.
