Zip Zap Circus and The Parlotones Join Forces for 25Live: A Night at the Circus!

“In a world filled with shades of grey, we’ll colour it up and escape” with Zip Zap and The Parlotones at the Artscape Theatre Centre

The Zip Zap Circus is saying goodbye to Women’s Month with a bang…  and a little help from The Parlotones to ensure plenty of Fireworks and Waterfalls at 25Live: A Night at the Circus.

Get yourself to the Artscape Theatre on 30 August, 31 August or 1 September 2017 (or all of them) where we’ll escape to our perfect place at the circus in celebration of Women’s Month and Zip Zap’s 25th birthday.

25Live will feature a full cast of inspiring men and women, with a special focus on aerial and acrobatic arts by the women of Zip Zap, offering a cinematic landscape of fantasy, all the while performing to the overexposed tunes of The Parlotones. “Through circus, our girls have become incredibly strong, both physically and mentally, and although times are gradually changing, there are still underlying prejudices and stereotypes that these girls are breaking every day by doing what they love,” says Laurence Estève, Zip Zap Co-founder and CEO. 25Live is directed by Zip Zap co-founder, Brent van Rensburg, and vocalist and rhythm guitarist of The Parlotones, Kahn Morbee.

Expect jaw-dropping performances by cast members, including Sabine Van Rensburg, Jaimee Allen, Chantal Nel and Saskia Van Rensburg. All of these women from the Zip Zap community have performed outstanding circus acts at showcases around the globe. “Our girls gracefully keep up with the rest of the team, including The Parlotones, which I think perfectly defines the term ‘girl-power’. Years of hard work has materialised into dazzling performances on stage, which prove that they have overcome any existing gender barriers prevalent in our society,” adds Laurence. And in honour of their endurance, perseverance and achievements, Zip Zap, Artscape Theatre Centre and The Parlotones have dedicated a three-night performance to a circus celebration like no other!

This non-profit organisation, that dared to dream, will finally open the Zip Zap Academy in Salt River. The new venue will be a space for children to experience the magic of the circus absolutely free.
