Rent a Harley Davidson For the Day
Let your hair down and explore Cape Town on an original Harley Davidson for a day or a week
Many tourists, and locals, rents Harley Davidsons to explore Cape Town and Surrounds on this legendary motorcycle.

The view from this powerful machine is unspoilt and the chopper sounds while you drive will make you feel like one of the Hell’s Angels.

Cape Town based West Cape Choppers are guys we have known for years and they provide excellent bike rentals in South Africa.

Harley Davidsons available for rental in Cape Town at excellent prices include the Dyna Wide Glide, Softail Custom, Heritage Softail as well as the legendary Fat Boy.

The Dyna motorcycle range features big twin engines and traditional styling.

Available for rental is for example the 1450cc 2004 model.

The Dyna bikes have a traditional coil-over suspension that connects the swingarm to the frame and have larger engines than for instance the Softail.

In 2007, Harley-Davidson released a line-up of five Dyna models: Super Glide, Super Glide Custom, Street Bib, Low Rider and Wide Glide.

Available for rental are the Softail Custom, a 2005 Model, and the Heritage Softail, which is a 2007 Model.

Both these bikes have a 1450cc engine, but the heritage has a 6 speed gearbox.

These big-twin motorcycles epitomises Harley's strong value on tradition.

With the rear-wheel suspension invisible on the bottom of the frame, they are visibly similar to the "hard tail" choppers popular in the 1960s and 1970s, as well as from their own earlier history.

If it’s the Harley Davidson Fat Boy you are looking for, West-Cape Choppers offers for example the 2003 and 2005 models for daily and weekly rentals.

There is an odd urban legend behind this Harley Davidson. According to stories the Fat Boy was designed as a “tribute” to the dropping of atomic bombs on Japan at the end of World War II.

Reasons behind this myth include that the Fat Boy has disc wheels similar to that of the airplanes used to drop the bombs, it’s silver just like two of the B-29s that were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki and the name apparently was formed from the nicknames of the two bombs dropped on Japan, namely “Fat Man” and “Little Boy.”

All of these stories are of course false. According to Harley-Davidson the disc wheels were chosen for their look and Fat Boy comes from the motorcycles seeming rather wide when viewed head-on.

Non the less renting a Fat Boy certainly promises to turn some heads in Cape Town.
