Love is rare, but your steak doesn’t have to be. That’s the Valentine’s Day motto of Cape Town city centre’s famous single-concept eatery, Headquarters (HQ). In honour of Cupid’s unofficial holiday, the swanky steakhouse is serving up a mouth-watering three-course menu that includes its signature sirloin cooked any way you want it, skinny fries, a tangy green salad to start and a decadent dessert platter to finish (couples also get a complimentary glass of Pierre Jourdan Belle Rose sparkling wine on arrival). VALENTINE’S DAY RED LIGHT/GREEN LIGHT PARTY AT THE FOREIGN EXCHANGE 
Because The Foreign Exchange bar in Cape Town’s Observatory is anti all the exclusivity of Valentine’s Day, this year the vibey pub is hosting a 14 February party that’s as ideal for those sans a second half as it is for those in committed relationships. The concept for the fun red light/green light bash is simple: guests who are single wear green, guests who are undecided about their status wear yellow and guests who are hooked-up wear red. This way, those flying solo can meet potential partners and those who are taken can still celebrate with their unhitched friends. If you’re looking for a fun date day out or a last-minute Valentine’s Day gift, Vintage Saturday at the Bay Harbour Market in Hout Bay is a grand place to visit. With over 100 traders selling their wares (not just limited to fashionable threads) and with top-notch vintage vendors on site, those checking out the market can pick up a sneaky pressie from a bygone era or simply have a relaxed romantic afternoon by the seaside. There are plenty of activities happening at the Hout Bay attraction, and visitors can count on catching live music or grabbing a bite to eat while there. Thus, why not spend Valentine’s Day at the stand-up show at Jou Ma Se Comedy Club at the Pumphouse in the V&A Waterfront. VALENTINE’S DAY SPECIAL AT THAI SABAI
Get your Valentine’s Day celebrations off to an early start and spoil your lovey with a pamper session at an original Thai massage house and skin clinic. VALENTINE’S DAY SUNDOWNER JAZZ SESSION AT PETER FALKE WINES
Had enough of the hustle and bustle of the city and its dime-a-dozen dinners? We suggest you skip the regular Valentine’s Day fanfare and head out to the picturesque Peter Falke estate in Stellenbosch for a sundowner session featuring top-class vinos, cheese platters, live jazz music and so much more. From 4pm to 6pm on Saturday, 14 February 2015, lovers can relax in the garden while local musos provide a laidback soundtrack to the setting sun. Couples can tuck into the gorgeous cheese platters and fresh salads that the farm is so famous for and pair them with the exquisite wines on offer.
COST: There is no entry fee to the farm. The cheese platters range from R90 to R345 and salads cost between R60 and R65. Wines will be available for purchase at the cellar. Booking is highly recommended; to do so, phone +27 (0) 21 881 3677.

VALENTINE’S DAY AT SHIMMY BEACH CLUB
Cupid is a-calling and even though it’s best not to ignore the chubby cherub, Shimmy Beach Club has an all-inclusive event to pay homage to this Hallmark holiday. The festivities kick off from 12pm with a bohemian chic picnic that comes complete with Japanese-style Bento boxes to enjoy on a private stretch of beach. From families and friends to couples and singles, everyone is invited to this fun day out in the sun. The on-site eatery will also be open for bookings and the a la carte menu will be available on the day. Alternatively, party-goers can book a late lunch or early dinner and boogie into the night with international DJ Joris Delacroix, who will be providing a scintillating sundowner serenade from 7pm to 9pm.

Kloof Street’s restaurant and cocktail bar Asoka is just the spot to spend a laidback Valentine’s Day evening with your beau. VALENTINE’S DAY UNDER THE STARS AT A CTPO CONCERT AT THE CASTLE OF GOOD HOPE
Spend this year’s day of love under the stars enjoying a 'classic-meets-pop' open-air concert with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra (CTPO) at the Castle of Good Hope.
