Flowers in spring, whales in summer and wildlife all year
SA Idol’s runner-up and Guns ‘n Roses fanatic Mark Haze and band are performing a few folk-rock pieces (FOR FREE!) at Bertie’s Mooring in Gordon’s Bay for a Sunday evening acoustic show on19 August 2012 at 5pm.
Yes, his band is named after him, but that’s doesn’t mean they’re a group of lacklustre, yellow-bellied, starry-eyed, half-bad musicians. And here’s why:
Certainly all you avid SA Idols fans remember Mark - the runner-up in SA Idols Season Seven. He was the long-haired, throaty vocalist who brought ‘rock’ to Idols, had no qualms head-banging on stage and even scared the pants of judge Randall Abrahams... apparently. Turns out, he’s a married-muso family-man with a dream to make it big in the world of rock. Hailing from Cape Town, he was formerly known as the lead vocalist and guitarist for 12 Avenue – a band made up of Bjorn Faree (guitar and backing vocals), Brian Lee (bass and backing vocals) and Mark’s brother, Gareth Haze (drums and backing vocals)). We say formerly known, because while the rock group hasn’t disbanded, they now collectively go by the name Mark Haze, hoping to take advantage of some of the exposure Mark received on Idols. Ahh, so not just a haphazardly assembled bunch of amateurs hungry for a little fame.
Mark Haze’s debut album, ‘Where Angels Fear to Fly’, was released on June 27, 2012 through Universal Music South Africa, and will be on sale on the evening of Sunday, 19 August as Mark and his band rock out, acoustically, at Bertie's Mooring.
Entrance is free, and bookings can be made by phoning Bertie’s Mooring directly at +27 (0)21 856 3343.
