Shimansky's Patented Diamond Cuts and Exclusive Jewellery Brands
Standing out in South Africa: the world's largest producer of diamonds
Even amidst a South African diamond industry that’s among the most competitive in the world, platinum and diamond jewellery specialists Shimansky has won acclaim and recognition for its outstanding precision, design and workmanship.
Shimansky is one of the few South African jewellers to source, cut and polish their diamonds in-house; special artisans polish cut diamonds using skill acquired over many years and the latest laser technology. Each Shimansky diamond passes a series of checkpoints ensuring that it is cut to ideal proportion and symmetry before being set into designs.
Shimansky’s stunning patented diamond cuts
The My Girl Diamond was researched; pioneered and developed by Yair Shimansky over a period of three years, and is now internationally patented across 35 countries. The unique eight-sided square displays a diamond-shaped table which is most visible when moving the diamond under light. Whilst the majority of diamond cuts reflect light from the top of the stone the My Girl diamond sparkles from every angle.
Hearts and Arrows describe the visual effect achieved in a round Super Ideal Cut diamond whose placement and shape of opposing facets should mirror each other. The Shimansky Eight Hearts diamond displays eight arrows when looking directly at the top of the diamond and eight hearts when looking directly at the bottom. The gem takes three times longer to polish, can only be shaped by one in a thousand cutters and is precisely handmade.
In the constant pursuit for perfection, the Brilliant 10 diamond follows the popular Eight Hearts. After years of research into specific light behaviour, Yair Shimansky has patented this unique diamond cut. Polished to precise proportion by a handful of skilled diamond cutters, the Brilliant 10 diamond displays a perfect 10 arrow star and 10 hearts pattern when viewed through an Ideal Scope, your proof that the diamond has been polished to perfection.
Tested in a leading European laboratory, the Brilliant 10 scores up to 25% more brilliance compared to round brilliant cut diamonds.
Signature designs
The Millennium Diamond Ring consists of two parallel bands that act as a bridge upon which the diamond rests, symbolising the coming together of two lives joined by a diamond in the middle. It is a timeless design, created by Shimansky and protected by international copyright laws, that perfectly captures the essence of commitment.
The Evolym Ring (my love spelt backwards) consists of a carefully set solitaire diamond (a single diamond set alone) firmly secured between three bands. The diamond can be viewed from any angle due to a 360 degree exposure to light and the design demonstrates maximum brightness and contrast.
Every Shimansky diamond is laser inscribed with an independent international certificate number on the girdle and registered designs are protected by the Copyright Act. Gems are certified by the Gemological Institute of America and the European Gemological Laboratory to ensure quality. These classic and contemporary jewellery designs can be viewed in the jewellery showroom and are manufactured onsite.
A sparkling Shimansky scent
To add allure to elegance, Shimansky has released the My Girl perfume. The fresh flowery fragrance was developed in the mountains of Switzerland with the help of a seasoned perfumist; hints of melon and peach, rose and jasmine and woody, spicy notes pull through to make this scent a dazzling accessory to any piece of designer jewellery.
What’s more, one in every hundred bottles contains a .25-carat My Girl diamond valued at R7,200. Those who’d rather not take their chances, however, can purchase a bottle of the perfume with a guaranteed diamond for that same price; the perfume is otherwise sold for R795.
