Stellenbosch Wine Festival

Enjoy the fruits of the Cape Winelands at this annual three-day food and vino extravaganza

Lovers of the grape and all things gourmet will be delighted to know that the annual Stellenbosch Wine Festival will take place in early February. Held at a central venue in the heart of Stellenbosch –Coetzenburg Stadium – you can tantalise your taste buds from Friday, 24 to Sunday, 26 February 2017. For more information, visit StellenboschWineFestival.co.za or call +27 (0)21 426 5775.

The food and wine celebration highlights the rich history of the town and the produce from the area, with around 148 wineries from the Stellenbosch Wine Route coming together at one venue, making this fiesta one of the largest wine varietal tastings in the world. Sip and sample hundreds of different wines each day, and taste the appetising nosh from some top restaurants on offer in the food section, aptly called Gourmet Lane.

On top of all these mouth-watering tipples and treats, there will be outdoor activities and live music to keep you entertained, as well as the usual supplementary events and charity sporting to-dos. So mark the dates in your calendar and take the family along for a fun-filled day in the Stellenbosch summer sun.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE 2017 STELLENBOSCH WINE FESTIVAL

HARVEST PARADE (28 JAN): The Harvest Parade celebrates the beginning of the grape harvest season. A vibrant flotilla of tractors and trucks carrying local bands and farm workers from local wine estates will make its way through the oak-lined streets of Stellenbosch to the Town Hall, where the blessing of the harvest ceremony will take place.

GRAPE GOLF CHALLENGE (23 FEB): Momentum will present a charity golf tournament on the beautiful De Zalze Golf Estate, where you can unwind with four team mates for a great cause on Thursday, 23 February 2017. All the proceeds from the Grape Golf Challenge will be donated to the Stellenbosch Wine Festival Foundation, which awards tertiary education bursaries to students whose parents work on the local farms. Be sure to keep an eye out for the Momentum branded hole, because for every tee-shot that stays on the green, Momentum will donate R200 to the Stellenbosch Wine Festival Foundation. Registration is at 10am.
Tickets: R2800 per 4-ball, including golf carts, halfway house and prize-giving dinner. The field is limited to 100 players, so book early by emailing broadreachevents@telkomsa.net or by phoning +27 (0)82 467 7944.

PICK N PAY WOMEN’S WALK: The date and details for this event have not been released yet, but keep your eyes open and we will update you as soon as we can!

LIVE MUSIC: What goes better with good friends, food and wine than great music? Drift away to the soothing sounds as the sun sets behind your back. Headline acts at this year’s festival have not been announced just yet, but have a little look at their Facebook page for an up to date line-up.
