Seafood Cocktail Sauce Recipe

South African Seafood Cocktail Sauce recipe, great with Cape Crayfish and other seafood

Seafood Cocktail sauce is the perfect dip for shrimp, crab, or other seafood.  A couple of grilled Cape Crayfish tails served with a bowl of seafood cocktail sauce make a simple but luxurious appetiser to start off any festive summer lunch.

200ml mayo
25ml tomato sauce
5ml lemon juice (or tot brandy/sherry)
chopped onion
chopped parsley
spice with pepper/paprika/tabasco
freshly washed lettuce leaves (optional)

Mix all the ingredients together. This is a basic seafood cocktail sauce, although using salsa instead of ketchup will give it an interesting twist.

Steam seafood or sauté in butter. Serve with the seafood sauce as a dip.

Alternatively add the seafood to the cocktail sauce. Use small dessert bowls or glasses and lay a fresh washed lettuce leaf in each.  Place dollops of seafood mixture on lettuce leaf. Refrigerate and serve cold.
