While Hermanus may be renowned as the whale-watching wonder of the Western Cape, the coastal town is also the home of one of South Africa’s Top 10 wine fiestas. The Hermanus Wine and Food Festival, which spills into the Curro Private School grounds on Friday, 11 and Saturday, 12 August 2017, will bring together over 50 quality wine producers, 8 craft breweries and artisanal gin distillers for an all-out taste sensation.
The wine and food celebration features world-class vino from across South Africa. Attendees can expect a true wine and food festival with plenty of tasty treats, entertainment and the unbeatable hospitality and small town charm that sets this fest apart from the rest.

More than 50 producers will have a total of over 250 wines up for tasting at the Wine Tasting Hall. Everything from ocean-sprayed Chardonnays to comforting Cabernet Sauvignons, and all the grapes in between, will be under one roof. Since everything’s available for purchase at cellar door prices, you might find yourself going home with barrels of the good stuff. Besides the finest vino, guests can sample 30 craft beers and ciders from six different local brewers, as well as taste the most innovative gins from micro-distillers right here in the Cape! If you are staying in Hermanus for the weekend, check out these accommodation options.
As fine wine must go with decadent food, the region’s talented chefs and restaurants will be on hand to make sure your stomach is well-lined with delicious delights. Expect to get your fill of local delicacies and gourmet grub at the multiple food stalls, food trucks and restaurants featured at the festival. Upbeat tunes and funky live music performances will jazz up the atmosphere too, so bring your best dancing shoes along.
If you were thinking about leaving the kids at home for this one, please reconsider. They will be kept entertained with a variety of thrilling games, under adult supervision, at the kiddies’ corner; such as jumping castles, face paintings and more. This family-friendly fest also offers up the services of Percy Tours as designated drivers so no one has to give up their good time, and everyone can get home safely.
