A seasonal guide to West Coast Private ...
Flowers in spring, whales in summer and wildlife all year
Time will go by exceptionally slowly in the beautiful Robertson Wine Valley from 6 – 9 August, when the 4th Robertson Slow will take place.
A handful of wineries and guesthouses from Ashton, Bonnievale, McGregor and Robertson will welcome visitors into their homes, to their dining tables and onto their farms for a food and wine experience - enjoyed SLOWLY.
The Van Loveren family is proud to kick off their Robertson Slow events:
1. South African Icons Tasting Platter, hosted by Bonita Malherbe and Zelda Prins. They have carefully chosen a few of South Africa’s best loved traditional food flavours and paired them with some of their award-winning wines to bring you a truly South African wine tasting experience.
Mix & match the combinations and see whether you agree with our winemakers’ recommendations, we’re sure you’ll agree this is one “lekker” tasting!
Food pairings include: Bobotie, Milk Tart, Biltong, Koeksister and many more.
Date & Time: 6 Aug @ 11:00 | 15:00
Capacity: 30 persons @ R30p/p
2. Join Van Loveren Vineyards for a memorable stroll through Ouma Jean Retief’s garden with trees planted for special family and historic occasions, resulting in the beautiful shady Van Loveren garden where ‘Every Tree Tells a Story.’
Date & Time: 6 Aug @ 15:00 (Afrikaans) | 7 Aug @ 11h00 (English)

The hike will start at the Van Loveren winery and cross the Breede River, for a short, steep climb up the “Rooikrans” to enjoy breathtaking views of the Robertson Valley vineyards and distant mountain ranges. From there a gentle descent, meandering through the vineyards and finishing at the cellar. Over 80 bird species have been identified in one day, including Paradise Fly Catcher, Black Eagle, African Fish Eagle and Tamborine Dove
Date & time: 7 Aug @ 08:00 – 11:00|12:00
