Visit the Mount Nelson for a unique tasting menu

The Planet Restaurant at the Mount Nelson Hotel benefits from the setting of this Cape Town landmark while still standing out on its own. The Journey menu is a four-course or six-course meal where innovation meets tradition with dishes like the rooibos cured springbok, !nabas, artichoke mayonnaise as well as springbok bitterballen. Also on the menu is a creamed celeriac soup with herbed cheese and garlic croutons, and pan fried salmon trout with roulade, new potato salad, tender stem broccoli and aspargus sauce maltaise. Dessert is intriguingly called “Peanut”.

The courses all have vegetarian and vegan alternatives which are worth a try regardless of your eating habits. Vegans will enjoy dishes such as the spiced chickpea fritter with nut and seed quinoa and mushroom pakora, and cashew ‘cheese’ tartlet with a fruit salad.

Tea, coffee and delectable friandises are included in the meal price. These heartwarming dishes are available for the spring menu which runs until 15 November 2011.
