Bespoke menus, wine pairings, and timeless interiors
On Saturday, 25 August 2012, Harald Bresselschmidt’s Auslese restaurant in Cape Town partners with Reichsgraf von Kesseltatt, a prestigious Riesling-producing German estate, to make for a food and wine pairing evening destined to be as indulgent as it is exclusive.
Owners of the estate, Annagret and Gerhard, will be present on the night, and patrons will have the opportunity to enjoy a five-course meal accompanied by the couple’s esteemed vintages, from very dry, delicate wines to full-flavoured, sweet late harvest editions.
Auslese Restaurant
Celebrated chef, Harald Bresselschmidt – formerly from Aubergine, decided to spread his wings with a new venture in 2009; a food and wine pairing venue. Not your average restaurant, Auslese – situated in a historic building in Gardens, Cape Town – offers an exclusive setting where the tradition of viticulture is explored and appreciated through food and wine pairing. Bresselschmidt’s skill at crafting superb hors d’oeuvres enhances the wine with complimentary and distinctive flavours.
Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt
Annagret Gartner discovered her love for wine in the late 70s when her father acquired Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt, a more than 600-year-old wine farm in Trier in the Mosel wine region in Germany. She pursued a career in viticulture, and has now been at the helm of the estate for nearly 30 years, a period of time during which she’s garnered international renown for producing wine that attains the high level of quality that has been the focal point of her accomplishments.
