With the sheer number of wine harvest festivals taking place in the Cape Winelands at the moment, it seems impossible to choose which one to attend. If you’re a bit pressed for time and would like to attend one close to the Mother City then you’re in luck. Noordhoek Farm Village will host the third edition of the annual The Noordhoek Crush festival on Saturday, 29 April 2017, and it’s less than 30 minutes away from the city centre.
This family-friendly fiesta will showcase over 100 wines from 20 wine estates from the region, which you can sip, swirl and splurge on – that’s correct; the wine’s will be available for purchase at cellar door prices.
Pop-up food stalls will provide nosh for the hungry to enjoy on the grass, and local restaurants such as The Foodbarn and Café Roux will be open for business, each of which is waiving its corkage fee to promote the purchase of wines from the festival on the day.

As with many local wine festivals, it’s not only about the tasting. Learning about how and why each wine is made is part of the fun, and knowledgeable pourers can make sure you walk away with something of an education, if you’re up for it.
Unlike other wine festivals, this is an event for the whole family, and entry for those electing not to taste the wines on offer is completely free. Kids can’t stand wine, and it’s a good thing too. For this reason, sand art, face painting and a jungle gym are provided to satisfy the endless youthful desire to play, and at The Noordhoek Crush, it’s guaranteed that the children will have just as much fun as their parents (maybe more).
To round off the entertainment offering, there will be a live band performing to boost the jolly atmosphere, and ease your eardrums while you sample the fares on offer.
