“There are many goals but one path - the path of compassion.”
― Amit Ray
Yoga is all about spirituality, love and peace so why not spend International Yoga Day on Saturday, 21 June, giving back to children thoroughly deserving of our compassion and support? South African NGO the Earthchild Project is responsible for the Share the Love of Yoga campaign, which provides free yoga lessons to one thousand children from disadvantaged backgrounds across South Africa. Sounds pretty amazing doesn’t it?Want to make a difference to a child’s life? Sponsor free yoga lessons for a kid from a disadvantaged background for a year with the Earthchild Project’s Share the Love of Yoga initiative on International Yoga Day on the 21st June.
Yoga is still mainly accessible to a privileged few in this country, but Earthchild is out to change that. Known for its healing, restorative and transformational qualities, the spiritual exercise is particularly powerful for assisting children who have been the victims of stressful or traumatic experiences. This is why Earthchild believes that making yoga accessible to these youngsters is so important, and has consequentially dedicated much time and money to providing free lessons to thousands of school children nationwide.
Both teachers and students have consistently reported on the positive effects of their practice in aiding concentration and physical and psychological well-being. If you would like to get involved in the initiative and help to enrich these children’s lives there are three ways to do so:
