SA Pink Lifestyle Expo

Inaugural LBGTQI shopping fair prances into the Mother City this July

Billed as Africa’s gay capital, Cape Town is set to host the first ever SA Pink Lifestyle Expo at the Sea Point Civic Centre from Friday, 26 to Sunday, 28 July 2013.

According to the show’s director, Tommy Patterson, this inaugural event is a first for Africa, believed to be the third of its kind worldwide and geared up to transform the very vanilla venue into a marvellous retail mecca.

With more than 80 exhibitors, “the SA Pink Lifestyle Expo... offers a wide range of goods, services and entertainment with a touch of pink flair,” further explains Patterson. A recent national consumer survey that narrowed in on the purchasing patterns of the LGBTQI community revealed that while the market segment was quite substantial it was largely ignored.

In a bid to address this issue, the innovative weekend-long affair aims to connect retailers and service providers with an affluent and brand-loyal sector of consumers while offering a variety of unique products and services all under one fabulous roof: “Think Decorex meets Sexpo with great food and drinks, live entertainment and walking eye-candy,” enthuses Patterson.

  • Fashion: the three-day expo will host fashion shows with hot bods strutting the latest trends and styles. Find tons of fashionable bargains, accessories and wellness products.
  • Food and wine: discover what’s cooking (and how to prepare it) with a series of on-site cookery demonstrations, and learn the art of pairing at the food and wine tastings.
  • Home improvement and décor: whether you’re into rustic chic or minimalist glam, you can zhoosh up your pad with the latest décor, home improvement styles and trends on display at the exhibit.
  • Pets: treat your furry, feathered or scaly friend to some stylish accessories or yummy delicacies. Get the latest in pet care and find info on how to keep your best friend in tip-top health. Not to mention, there’ll be a dog show, where the best looking pooches stand in line to win some great prizes.
  • Weddings: planning to marry the man or woman of your dreams? From wedding invitations to décor and ideas on how to make your special day unique and memorable, the SA Pink Lifestyle Expo has you covered in the nuptial department.
  • Adult entertainment: whatever your bag or inclination, this premier show offers all the trinkets and toys to satisfy any fetish or just perk up the passion.

Aside from the attractions we’ve mentioned above, the lifestyle trade fair is due to showcase a luxury car display, live shows and so much more.
