Rob Van Vuuren’s Stand-Up Comedy Show at the Baxter
Get your laugh on with this award-winning performance presented by one of the Mother City’s very own funnymen
In need of a couple of laughs before the year grinds back into full gear? Then be sure to get down to the Baxter Theatre to see beloved comic Rob Van Vuuren’s award-winning stand-up show, WhatWhat, from Monday, 1 December 2014 to Saturday, 17 January 2015.
This latest offering from the funnyman nabbed the 2013 Standard Bank Ovation Award and delves into realm of the ‘what what’, a South African slang term for ‘this and that’. Appropriately enough, the performance uses this lovable piece of local lexicon to tie together everything from love and life to koala bears, gay slang and firepools. It’s one big, high-energy hilarious mash-up, and as usual, Van Vuuren has been praised by Cape reviewers for his facial antics, cleverness and even physical flexibility.
For those who aren’t familiar with the comedian, Rob van Vuuren has a long and celebrated career in the local theatre scene, captivating audiences with his hilarious portrayal of the ‘flippen cool’ Twakkie in the wildly popular The Most Amazing Show. Recently he starred and co-wrote the play The Three Little Pigs, which had a successful local and international run, going beyond our shores to Australia and Edinburgh amongst others. Rob has a plethora of talents under his belt, from acting to producing to directing – he’s certainly a jack of all trades.
