Fill the tummies of the hungry this winter, by joining Food for Life Cape Town in feeding thousands of people who don’t have access to warm meals. Join the NGO on Saturday, 23 July 2016 in Phillipi in cooking 50 pots of vegetable biryani to be distributed in the area of your choice.
Food for Life is an NGO that fights malnutrition and hunger in South Africa by delivering warm meals to the underprivileged across the country, serving over two million plates of food every day. In the Western Cape the organisation has distributed meals to those in Mitchells Plain, Grabouw and Stellenbosch this year.
Mandela Day is upon us and Food for Life, in tribute to Nelson Mandela and the organisation’s founder, Srila Prabhupada is serving 10 000 meals to the underprivileged as part of their Living the Legends initiative. Volunteers are invited to cook a pot of warm food that will be handed out in disadvantaged communities.
Gather your family and friends and donate money towards sponsoring a pot of food, which serves 200 people. Food for Life will supply the ingredients, utensils and the recipe for their vegetable biryani – all you need to do is join a team of three volunteers and follow the instructions on how to cook the meal. If you’re feeling extra generous, you can offer to distribute the food in an area of your choice.
VOLUNTEER AT THE LIVING THE LEGENDS FEEDING SCHEME IN PHILLIPI
It costs R1500 to sponsor a pot of food. If you’re interested in sponsoring a pot, contact nayneshg@gmail.com or call +27 (0)79 487 7169. Head down to Oasis on Saturday, 23 July 2016 at 7am with your team and get cooking.
