John Cleese has written and starred in a number of plays, musicals, films, sitcoms, theatrical and comedy productions over the years. He is probably best known for his legendary performances in the Monty Python series and his role as Basil Fawlty in the hilarious Fawlty Towers. The movie ‘A Fish Called Wanda’ – which he wrote and co-starred in along with Jamie Lee Curtis – was also a huge hit and took his success to a new level internationally.
Recently, John Cleese earned some new fans in South Africa with his role as ‘The Guv’ in the film adaptation of the popular South African novel ‘Spud’. The movie was a huge success locally and fans will be hoping for a sequel in the near future.
So, what can you expect from the legend on his South African tour?
Cleese says: ‘It is an evening of well honed anecdotes, psychoanalytical tit-bits, details of recent surgical procedures, and unprovoked attacks on former colleagues, especially Michael Palin’.
The ‘Alimony Tour’ came about after John Cleese divorced his third wife and decided that this would be a fun way to earn money to pay for his alimony!
